Javier Giraldez
Fco. Javier Giráldez Díaz (Montellano, Seville; 1976) holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Seville. He is a teacher of Secondary Education for the Consejería de Educación de la Junta de Andalucía and currently works in the province of Cádiz. He has been Associate Professor at the University of Huelva (2004/2005) and has worked at the Historical Memory Commissariat of the Andalusian Regional Government as advisor and coordinator of projects and research (2008-2012). He has also worked in private enterprise as an expert in training and human resources (2012-2015). Between 2015 and 2019 he was “Director General de Memoria Democrática de la Junta de Andalucía”. He is part of several research projects related to the recovery of historical memory and Franco’s repression in Andalusia. He has been a member of the Sur-Clío Research Group at the University of Almería and has published numerous articles in books and journals, as well as participating in the publication of several works. He is currently finalising a research project on the public initiatives of the Autonomous Communities in relation to the spaces of memory in Spain.
