It is housed at Institute for the Study of Human Rights at Columbia University, New York City.

Center for the Study of Franco and Democratic Times The Center for the Study of Franco and Democratic Times is a Special Research Centre at UAB consists of over eighty researchers from different disciplines, historians, linguists, political scientists, communications specialists, sociologists, and economists specializing in the study of this historical period. Most are assigned to different departments or research groups at UAB, but there are also teachers and researchers from other Catalan universities.

Conforme a lo previsto en el artículo 12.2 de la Ley 52/2007, de 26 de diciembre, por la que se reconocen y amplían derechos y se establecen medidas a favor de quienes padecieron persecución o violencia durante la Guerra Civil y la Dictadura, el Gobierno de la nación tenía el encargo de confeccionar un mapa integrado de todo el territorio español en el que constaran los terrenos en que se han localizado restos de personas desaparecidas violentamente durante la Guerra civil o la represión política posterior.

Según el citado artículo, a este mapa se incorporarían los datos remitidos por las distintas Administraciones públicas competentes, para lo que se han firmado los correspondientes Convenios de colaboración con varias Comunidades Autónomas.

Por tanto, los datos para la elaboración del Mapa proceden de la información aportada al Ministerio de Justicia por las distintas Comunidades Autónomas firmantes de esos Convenios de colaboración y por Asociaciones, Fundaciones o Entidades dedicadas a actividades de recuperación de la memoria histórica, cuyos trabajos de investigación han recibido subvenciones del Ministerio de la Presidencia.

Se trata de datos elementales o básicos sobre los lugares de enterramiento, algunos de ellos ya desaparecidos, pero de los que se conoce su localización, por lo que aquellos ciudadanos que deseen acceder a una información más completa deberían dirigirse a la Administración o Entidad que ha proporcionado la información.

On this website, citizens can find a database of existing references to files under the Ministry of Culture, based on documents that reflect the suffering and violation of the human rights of our citizens who suffered for so long. Information has been added on the presence of Spanish refugees in Nazi concentration camps and other instances of murder by foreign forces.
