Josep Maria Bertran de Quintana (1884 – 1960) fou una figura destacada de la Catalunya dels anys trenta que calia recuperar de l’oblit. Amic i secretari personal de Lluís Companys, va tenir un paper rellevant en la proclamació de la República Catalana amb Francesc Macià, i posteriorment com a regidor de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona per ERC. De fermes conviccions democràtiques i pacifistes, va impulsar el Comitè Català contra la Guerra i en fou l’ànima i el president, i el seu neguit i compromís el van portar aparticipar en la vida pública a través de diaris comL’Opinió o El Diluvio.

Radical Justice investigates the convoluted relationship between memory and justice as it is portrayed in political documentaries and detective fiction from Spain and the Southern Cone. It argues that the possibility of achieving justice in these regions lies beyond market and state and is yet to come. Rather than focusing on “high literature,”Radical Justice uses popular culture as a site from which to question both the inability of the state and the transnational market to come to terms with the dictatorial past and to deliver justice.
