Ulrike Capdepon holds a PhD in Political Sciences from the University of Hamburg (Germany, 2011). She is an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA). After leaving the graduate school, she has been a Marie Curie-Fellow at the Center for Human Science and Humanities (CCHS) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, an Otto-Bennmann Fellow at the Georg Eckert Institute for International Textbook Research in Braunschweig and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Konstanz in the European Research Council Project \u201cNarratives of Terror and Disappearance in Argentina\u201d. From 2014 to 2016, Dr. Capdepon was a DAAD Postdoctoral Research Scholar affiliated to the Institute for the Study of Human Rights (ISHR) at Columbia University in New York City. Currently, she is a Visiting Faculty in the Program in Latin American Studies (PLAS), Princeton University (USA).<\/p>\n

Her research interests include Human Rights policies and memory studies in Latin America and Spain, as well as national and international prosecutions of human rights crimes and enforced disappearance. Capdepon has published widely about the politics of the past, especially in Latin America\u2019s Southern Cone and Spain, for different academic audiences in English, German and Spanish. She is the author of the book From the Pinochet Case to the <\/em>desaparecidos of the Spanish Civil War. Coming to terms with the dictatorships\u2019 past and Human Rights Violations in Chile and Spain.<\/em> [Vom Fall Pinochet zu den Verschwundenen des Spanischen B\u00fcrgerkrieges: Die Auseinandersetzung mit Diktatur und Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Chile und Spanien] (Global Studies, Transcript) and of a substantial number of research papers and book chapters.<\/p>\n
