Resumen
Este artículo, prólogo del número especial “Memory Worlds: Reframing Time and the Past”, es la continuación de la sesión plenaria “Connecting Memory Traditions around the World”, organizada por los autores en la Third Annual Conference of the Memory Studies Association celebrada en Madrid (2019). Elaborando sobre el trabajo de físicos críticos como Rovelli y Barad, que pone en duda las concepciones hegemónicas del tiempo lineal y el pasado de dos maneras. En primer lugar, aportando conceptos cruciales elaborados en el ámbito de los estudios de la memoria que anticipan, apoyan o pueden dar cabida a esta afirmación. En segundo lugar, convocando a la antropología social al debate, como un campo en el que las epistemologías subalternas del tiempo y el pasado se han convertido en un área crucial de investigación en los últimos decenios.En el artículo se insta a ampliar el ámbito de los Memory Studies para ir más allá de las concepciones implícitas y bien establecidas del tiempo lineal que pueden oscurecer u obliterar epistemologías alternativas, que suelen residir en los márgenes.
